Whether through the development of cutting-edge technologies, implementation of robust protocols, or promotion of a culture of mindfulness and prevention. You can work alone or in a team. It’s all about thinking outside the box and finding new ways to make our workplace even safer. Please find the video message of our Group CEO, Remco Teulings, here!
The ideas everyone came up with last year were creative, generally helpful and are actually being used by different OpCo’s. A special shoutout goes to our first place winner from last year: STG (picture of the award ceremony above) with their little blue key boxes. Let’s make this year’s competition just as good.
You can win some nice prices for you team again this year. But of course, this competition isn’t just about winning prizes. It’s about making real change and making our workplace safer for everyone. So, get creative, team up if you want, and let’s make a difference together. You can send in your idea via the H&S Compass App or your OpCo’s H&S Department. SAFETY IS OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY WITHIN BME GROUP
IT IS THE DUTY OF EACH AND EVERY ONE OF US
“Regardless of your title or position, it is the responsibility and duty of all of us to keep our customers, our contractors, our suppliers, our visitors, ourselves and all our colleagues safe.
The Compass Safety Program and Approach are not meant to be a top-down instruction. It is a real joint effort to keep all of us safe when working at our locations and when you are underway for your work. Therefore, we encourage you to carefully observe and speak to colleagues when needed. Raise any concerns about safety and also make suggestions to improve our safety environment and performance.
I am asking for a real commitment from all of you to play your role in keeping yourself and other people safe. Thank you for taking our Health & Safety Guidelines and the Compass Safety Program as seriously as I do.
When ‘we think first and behave safe’, we are making our company safer, stronger and healthier.”

THE BME HEALTH & SAFETY COMPASS APP
To help you, as our BME colleague, to work as healthy and safely as possible, BME Group has developed the Health & Safety Compass program. This App is part of this program. In the App you will find Safety forms such as the Safety Observation and the Safety Leadership Interaction (SLI) Form. Fill out the forms via the App easily and quickly on location. The forms in the App are linked to your own company and tracks your location, making it even easier to fill them in.

FOCUS AREAS
EMPLOYEE SAFETY
To comply to the local safety guidelines all our colleagues are informed, educated and trained in our safety guidelines, as part of their induction program as well as annually during employment.
CLEANLINESS AND TIDINESS
All working areas must be clean and organized in order to be more efficient, reduce stress for colleagues, deliver higher quality of work and reduce the risk of injuries and accidents.
SITE SAFETY
All contractors, customers, visitors and suppliers visiting our locations need to comply to our Health & Safety Guidelines. It is our duty to assure they are well informed, educated and/or trained in these guidelines.
WORKPLACE SAFETY
It is essential that within all work areas and/or workstations relevant guidelines are available and, when necessary, clearly visible. To enable a safe entry to the work area and/or workstation at all times.
HEALTH
We are committed to provide all employees with a healthy and comfortable work environment by identifying and correcting ergonomic risk factors. And by following simple rules on ergonomic work behavior.
JOINT RESPONSIBILITY
We need all of you to play your role in keeping yourself and others safe. Therefor we ask you to:
- Comply with all Health & Safety Guidelines and all your local applicable laws,
- Use your common sense and good judgement to make safe and healthy decisions,
- Ask, when in any doubt, about how to proceed safely and healthy, and
- Speak-up when things are not right.
